Rheumatology research study

Immune Regulation in Rheumatic Disease

You are under no obligation to reply to this invitation, however if you choose to, participation in this research is voluntary and you may withdraw at anytime.

Who can take part

We are looking for healthy volunteers who are willing to give a blood sample.

Purpose of the study

Our research group investigates how an immune response is stopped, a natural process that helps to prevent chronic inflammation. To do this we study certain cells of the immune system that are found in the blood of every individual.

What taking part involves

We would like to ask for volunteers to give a blood sample. Before you donate a sample, we will send you a detailed participant information sheet and a consent form, and if necessary, discuss further details.

The donation, for which we will arrange a time and date that is convenient for you, involves the collection of 50-100 ml of blood (5-10 tubes, or 2 to 5 tablespoons) by an experienced phlebotomist. If you agree to participate, we will arrange a time and date for your donation. This will take about 10 minutes, and does not pose any anticipated hazard or risk to you, however you may experience slight discomfort and/or minor bruising as a result of giving the blood sample.
