Influx

BD Influx

The BD Influx™ Cell Sorter is a highly modular, stable stream-in air flow cytometry cell sorter equipped with 4 air-cooled lasers. It allows for high-speed multicolour sorting with acquisition rates of up to 200,000 events per second.

The Influx sorter is able to sort into two- and four-way bulk sorting devices for a variety of tube sizes or can sort using the Cell Deposition Unit (CDU) to multi-well plates or microscope slides. To support aseptic sorting, exchangeable fluidics allow the operator to easily replace the sample line or the complete fluidics path, from sheath tank to nozzle tip (extra costs covered by the investigator). The Influx sorter uses SPIGOT software for acquisition.

Configuration of the BRC INFLUX sorter

BRC INFLUX 1 (flow cytometry laboratory operated):

4 laser, 14 parameter instrument (405 nm (violet), 488nm (blue), 561nm (Yellow-green), 633 nm (red)), allows simultaneous use of all lasers. CDU and Aerosol management system installed. Laser/Detector and filter configuration: 5 Blue/3 Red/2 Violet /4 Yellow-Green).

Optional means: The core laboratory owns these filters as well, but they are not routinely installed in the cytometer. If a user requires them for an experiment, please inform FCL staff in advance.

Booking

This machine is exclusively operated by flow cytometry laboratory staff.

The instrument and operators are available for sorts Monday - Friday 10am - 5pm.

All sorts are run with sterile 1x PBS as sheath buffer. Users can provide their own sheath buffer if necessary but must inform the low core laboratory staff at least 2 days in advance.

The sorts are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.  Members of the BRC's Faculty of Translational Medicine will be given priority.

The flow cytometry laboratory staff will assign sorting times and strive to avoid large blocks of unused time to maximise access. Users will be able to view the booking calendar.

To book sorting time on this instrument, please email (BRCFlowCore@gstt.nhs.uk) a completed sort booking form (word) to the flow laboratory team.
